Croatia included in the Visa Waiver Program

(Dubrovnik, 23rd October 2021) From 23rd October 2021 Croatian citizens can travel to the United States (USA) without a visa by applying through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) for tourism and business of 90 days, the US Embassy in Zagreb announced on Saturday.

The news of Croatia's entry into the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) was announced by the US Embassy on its Facebook page: “The day has come! Congratulations to Croatia on officially joining the Visa Waiver Program. If you are planning to go to the United States for business or tourism, before traveling you need to fill in the ESTA application form and that's it!”

The procedure itself is simpler, because it is no longer necessary to go to the US Embassy, but also considerably cheaper. It will cost 14 US Dollars, or about 90 Croatian Kuna. Previous application for the trip or registration can be submitted via ESTA at any time before, but the Department of Homeland Security encourages travellers to apply as soon as possible, and at least 72 hours before the planned trip, according to a statement from the US Embassy.

Travellers from VWP countries, as of today Croatians as well, are not required to present a specific travel plan before applying through ESTA, and ESTA requirements are generally valid for two years.
